17 June 2011

An unremarkable journey home, which is a rare event.  Everything was working (even IRIS scan), and flight was on time.
The same cannot be said for the trip back on Monday (21st).  Flight delayed due to "faulty fuel guage" which conjured up a vision of one of many flight disaster movies - "Flight 174" based on a true story of a Boeing 767 (with a faulty fuel guage) which ran out of fuel at a high altitude!!

5 reasons why Heathrow Terminal 5 is one of the worst in the world: Number 1 - the queues for security screening.  Monday the queues went all the way back into the main departure hall. This could have been because only three of the 8 security stations were manned.  More staff arrive only AFTER the queues build up, yet the terminal operators must know exactly how many passengers are expected, and exactly which flights they are getting.  It doesnt take a high IQ (or complicated software) to anticipate passenger flows!!

First post

So I have been meaning to do this for 2 years.  I have probably flown, on average, once a week, and in that time encountered snow, volcanic ash, strikes, thunder storms, incompetence and just bad luck!! Its been rare to have a journey without a story to tell, so watch this space!!
